All Is Quiet…

by James Choi, Associate Youth Pastor

The brisk morning is quiet and still. I step into my car, hot tea in hand, ready to drive 45 minutes to work. [All is quiet]

At last, the snow and trees start to glow with pride, from the beams of the peeking sunrise; over the rolling hills of these farmlands. [And all is quiet]

My heart thumping, blood pumping. My mind in a nervous state; insecure thoughts to contemplate. [All is not quiet]

Then I am reminded, “Be still, and know that I am God.”
[All is quiet]

The Psalmist expresses:
My heart is not proud, O Lord, my eyes are not haughty;
I do not concern myself with great matters
or things too wonderful for me.
But I have stilled and quieted my soul;
like a weaned child with its mother,
like a weaned child is my soul within me,
[James], put your hope in the Lord both now and forevermore.” (Psalms 131)

In the stillness, there I find the presence of my Lord.
Just as a weaned child finds quiet rest in the arms of her mother;
There I rest peacefully in the arms of the Father. As I am so dependent on Him.
[All is quiet]

I arrive and enter the youth wing. And all is
But yet, inside…
[All is quiet]

Quiet trust in God is the basis for our contentment.
