Let Them Come
I still remember the feeling in my stomach as I stood on the step, freezing cold, waiting for my dad to take my picture. My brand new backpack strapped to my shoulders, my hair done just right, and sporting my fancy new “you-can’t-wear-your-new-clothes-until-the-first-day-of-school” outfit. I was as ready as I’d ever be. Part of me couldn’t wait to see my friends and jump back into school, and the other part of me just wanted to go back to when the days were warmer, longer and freer.
I can sympathize with many of our CrossRoads Kids families as they head back to school. Thankfully, Sundays at CrossRoads in the Kindergarten to Grade 6 areas will have several similarities to the summer.
September 6th, the kids move up to their new grade, meet their new leaders, but stay with the same classmates they got to know last year. We will be splitting them back into rooms separated by grade so their activities can be more accurately geared towards their age groups. Our new Kindergarten children will have a special orientation on September 6th and September 13th, so they can settle in and feel more comfortable with the program on Sundays (plus those big kids can be just plain scary to little guys!).
The CrossRoads Kids ministry will be at the Church Picnic in the afternoon on September 6th, so come drop by our corner of the lot and introduce yourself to Pastor Brenda and Ashten! They will be so excited to meet you and get to know your family a little bit better.

This year is shaping up to be great! God has so much love and such an amazing plan for the children we get to spend Sunday with every week! We are so blessed to serve the Lord and your families week in and week out. He’s up to something BIG in CrossRoads Kids, and we can’t wait to see it come to fruition.
As our young ones return to school, let us remember to lift them up in prayer. Brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, sons, daughters, grandchildren, great grandchildren, friends’ little ones – all need every ounce of love and prayer we have behind them. May God grant them favour and blessing as they walk through this school year, and may He continue to show up mightily in their lives and hearts in CrossRoads Kids.
“Jesus said, ‘Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven.'” (Matthew 19:4)
